This site is about boating in upstate NY. From the western part of the state to the Hudson River it’s all about the locations where we boat. The hours of operation for the remainder of the 2016 season are as follows:

May 26 to September 7: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

September 8 to November 20: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to the schedule listed above, the following locks and lift bridges will operate on demand from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from May 26 to September 7:

My wife and I took a trip to Manhattan this week to visit the NYC boat show at the Javit's convention center.  We are looking for a day boat and wanted to see what boat dealers were displaying.  We always like attending boat shows especially this time of year to see what type of new products are being introduced into the market.

skaneateles-boat-showToday we took a ride to visit the 34th annual antique boat show sponsored by the Finger Lakes chapter of the antique and classic boat society.  This is also the 18th annual show held in Skaneateles.

If you have never spent  time in Skaneateles you need to. Skaneateles is a beautiful village at the north end of the lake. When you stroll down the main street of the village, you can't help but notice the quality of the shops and restaurants that line the road.  They have a beautiful park at the lake shore and that's where the boat show is held each year.  The weather happened to be perfect as far as I was concerned, not too hot, a little breeze and partly cloudy.

destinations fairport blog image1Fairport is one of our favorite ports to visit on the canal system.  the first time we visited Fairport we were on our way back from a trip on the canal, it was late in the afternoon and the walls were almost full, but we were able to find the last spot on the wall.  The dock master came over to welcome us and supplied us with an information package that listed local businesess that would be a benefit to boaters.
